Visa Application
Expedited Appointment Process for U.S. Visa in China
中文
In some limited circumstances, where the U.S. visa applicants can not wait for a normal appointment may be
considered for an expedited appointment. There is no additional fee for making an expedited appointment.
Eligibility
In certain cases, the applicants for the U.S. nonimmigrant visa may request an expedited appointment:
- Students:
You are applying for F, M or J visa in the current academic year and your classes will start (as listed on your I-20 or DS-2019 form) before your current visa interview date.
- Humanitarian Grounds:
Emergency medical treatment, appearance in U.S. court, attending an immediate relative's funeral, attending an immediate relative who is seriously ill.
- Emergency Business Trip:
You have an emergency business trip and if missed, it will cause a significant economic loss to a U.S. interest (it does not matter whether it will cause a loss to you or not).
Not Eligible
- Those who are clearly eligible for drop box renewal service.
- You must not have been refused a visa within the past 6 months (except for students).
- If you would like to attend an event that could have been planned well in advance such
as large conventions, wedding attendance, tourism, annual meetings, graduation ceremonies etc.
- If you have previously received an expedited appointment, you may normally not get another
one.
Procedure
- You must schedule a regular appointment
first before converting into the expedited appointment.
- Submit a request by email to the
Embassy/Consulate that has jurisdiction over your residence.
Please note that even though a regular appointment can be scheduled at other Consulates, such flexibility is not
available in case of expedited appointments.
Requests must be sent by an individual applicant. Visa consultants or other third parties are not allowed to send such request on behalf of the applicants.
You must send all the information in English. If you fail to submit the complete information and if there is any incorrect or missing information, your request will be discarded.
You must send the following information by email:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Passport number and place of issue
- Visa class
- In case F, M or J applicants: SEVIS number, school name and program start date as listed on your I-20 or Form DS-2019
- Date and time of original interview and appointment number
- Visa call center confirmation number
- If any prior U.S. visa were issued or refused, where and when
- Confirmation bar code number form an accurately completed Form DS-160

- Detailed justification regarding why an expedited appointment is being requested and why arrangements could not have been made prior to now
- Place of residence and work for the past 6 months in the Consular district you are applying

Students: Pages 1 and 2 of I-20 or DS-2019
Business Visa: Invitation letter
Humanitarian Grounds: Evidence from U.S. doctor or hospital, court document etc.
In case of group requests, name, date of birth, previous visa information, Form DS-160 confirmation bard code number for each applicant is required. The contact information (phone number and email address) in China should be of the group organizer.
Please note that if you qualify for an expedited appointment, all you get is an earlier appointment.
Expedited appointment neither
guarantees you visa nor it increases the chances of getting visa. You still have to qualify for that visa
independently in all aspects.
