Comments/Suggestions:
---------------------
1.White shirt and a tie really did magic for me.

2.When greeting have a good smile on your face. Don’t look tensed.

3.When entered in to lobby be alert as the VO’s will be watching you as they interview the other persons. They will try to read your body language, how you sit, stand, walk, etc.

4.When answering just see in the VO’s eyes and answer it. Don’t think of right or wrong just answer the question what ever comes in the mind. They will just check your confidence level; if you answer correctly looking here and there they will assume that you are not genuine. So, be careful.

5.Just imagine if you are VO, in what way you will judge the candidate whether he is genuine or not. You don't know anything about him or his project. You need to judge him only by his confidence and attitude. So, concentrate on it and it will be done.

Bangalore INDIA - February 03, 2010 at 06:30:59 AM
My reporting time was 945 and My VISA was approved by 1130 Only.
People were very helpful and lots of Indians are working in US Consulate so one will never find it an alien place.

My Observings

1.Be Confident – This is the key, they observer you when you will be waiting in front of the counters, especially how you stand, your body language. Greet him/her for sure, 15% job will be done is done here.

2.Wear Formal Dress, A Tie will add value.

3.Speak nicely: Don’t try to pour your technical knowledge there, neither they are techie nor they want to know how much you know, They just check if you are genuine and have the confidence. I saw getting on Business VISA getting rejected just because that guy was using so much technological words (jargons).Tell in Layman term what your project all about, just guess you are telling some one who doesn’t have any technical expertise.

4.Most of the time VO will be working on PC and ask you something, they don’t show you their expression, and don’t waste your time reading that, Your each answer must not be more than 2 sentences max whether he is looking at you or not.

5.Tweak terms that they can be understood by any one.

Sharepoint- better use Knowledge & Information storage.
Servers : machine where codes are deployed.
Orcale :Data Storage.
Java/J2EE: Programming language

Today i had the Visa interview at 8:30 Slot. After Initial checks and Document verification, i was asked to pay the Fees (Deposit the DD at the Cash Counter). After this i was sent to the place where Visa interviews were being taken.

The attendant asked all L1 applicants to queue up on the 1st counter. At this counter a person wearing a waist coat with a bow and Tie was interviewing the applicants. I was anxiously waiting for my Turn.

Then my Turn came.

Me-Good Morning Sir.(with a smile )
VO- ( Smiled )Good Morning.( pointing at my documents)
ME-gave the documents and waited.
another VO who was taking interviewing student visa on the next counter suddenly came up.
VO- one second pls
ME - sure sir.
VO returned after two minutes. At this time i was very tensed.
VO- sorry for the Delay. ( started checking the Petition and BEP Covering letter )
VO- wait for a second sir.
VO- came back again after a minute and asked " So what kind of work you will be doing for XX client"
Me- Answered that i will be working on a integration project for the client.
VO- Thats it sir, your Passport will be Couriered to you in a week's time. Your interview is done. (returned me the signed copies of the Petition and retained my passport with him )
Me- Bit surprised as there were no other questions and i Just Thanked and walked away.

Oh God!! What a roller coaster. Never thought it would just be this much.

I Sincerely thank The moderators of this website and all other applicants who had taken time in posting their experience. It Proved very vital.

As its been Said,
** make sure you visit the consulate in Full Formals, with Tie and display your company ID.
** Being Confident and answering in simple terms are the keys.

Wishing success to all future applicants!!

Regards
Barath

Hyderabad A.p India - February 01, 2010 at 01:42:36 AM
Before interview.
There will be separate queue for L1B. So make sure you are standing in the correct queue (Security usually take care of this).
You will get a Pink token . This needs to be shown at the counter.

For interview i will say read till the questions are getting repeated. :)

The VO are very helpful. If you are genuine case then they will help you even if you are nervous. My friend(she got nervous in her first answer) was told by VO that consider me as your BoyFriend. He investigated her docs but it was DONE for her also.

So be confident, stand straight( don't be causal). keep eye contact and its done.

For me the questions were:
How many years u have been in this company?
 Specialized knowledge of Business meet?
 Which copy right tool? Explain.

Thats it...

All the best....

Thanks to every one who shared their experience.
My interview was at 11.15 and i reached consulate around 10.30 but no one was there in the 'Q' so I just showed my appointment letter they allowed me inside much before the interview.

I finished my initial process like finger scanning and document verification after that they send me to the next building to deposit the cheque, since it was BEP again they have sent me back to the first building for interview.

Me: Good morning Sir
Vo: No reply...he was checking documents

Vo: He ask me to put my right thumb for scanning
Me: Finger scanning is done

Vo: Who is your client
Me: Answered xyz

Vo: What is your role
Me: Answered

Vo: For how long your working for the client
Me: Answered

Thats all then came golden words
