Parents got visa
My parents got their visa today and please note that the visa issuance fee is not collected effective Nov 8. They didnt ask them many questions. Some basic questions about where my dad worked, how many kids they have, where do I live in US, Do I work and where my husband works. They didnt even see the documents. They collected the D156 , D157 and the passport. I feel that it depends on your how confident you are when you answer your questions. Thanks to Immihelp for all the information they have provided.

Parents got the Visa
I tried to take a Telugu appointment in May. But later I realised, they gave English appointment for November 2nd.

Nothing else to do, I asked my parents to take English interview. As per the experiences from other folks, I told them NOT to ask for a translator.

At the interview,my parents couldnt understand English very well. So,the office was kind enough in asking them to wait for an hour. He arranged a Telugu translator.

They were just asked some minor questions. And the Visa is issued. Not sure yet on how many years.

Parents got 10yrs multiple visa at Chennai
Hi,
Thanks to immihelp.com, It helped us a lot in preparing for my mom and dad's interview.
In our case, my husband was the sponsor for my parents and I was the only child for my parents.
My Dad is a Government Employee and he had lot of docs to prepare,,,Employment letter, Leave sanction letter, NOC...etc
We prepared all the sponsor docs and i asked my dad to have a separate folder.
I named all the sponsor docs such as passport, I-797, Bank letter...so that it's easy for the officer to look at.
I trained my dad for 2 months by asking all the questions listed in this site.
My dad is not that fluent in English......
Our appointment was on Oct 31 2006 11:00 A.M
My parents were let inside at 10:30 A.M

After finising all the intial stages..my parents were before the visa officer at 11:00 A.M
Questions where,
Why do u want to go to US?
TO visit my daughter and son-in-law and also for tourism
What are u doing?
I am working at .....
My dad showed his employment letter
Who is sponsoring ur visit?
My son-in-law
What is ur son-in-law doing?
he is working at.......
How many child do you have?
One daughter
The visa officer again asked " u don't have a son"
My father replied "NO"
Do u have property?
Yes..at so and so place

Thats it my Parents were granted 10 yrs multiple visa
The VO din't see any of the sponsor's docs or visitor docs except for my dad's employment letter.
He was very soft and in the end, my father was not able to understand what he was telling.
My father asked him to repeat.
So the visa officer called a Lady and asked her to tell in Tamil to my parents.(so that they could understand)
My mom was not even asked a single question
It went on very smoothly.
Thanks to everyone

Parent Got Visitor's VISA after 4 refusals
All,

I really want to Thank people posting on this website and people maintaining this website. I would like donate to this website. How can I make any donation ? I am really grateful

My parents VISA got 3 refusals.
1. My mother's Visa got refused first time because she didn't had any property in her name.
2. My parents VISA got refused 2nd time beacuse they didn't have original Bank Savings Passbooks with them and also they got the impression that all their children are abroad.

3. My parent's VISA to US got refused in UK as they asked them to apply in India.

4. My mother's VISA got refused 4th time as I think my mother was not able to understand VO accent.

This time we asked for interpreter. We have a cousin living with us and dependent on my parents.
We were able to show dependence too so this time VISA process went smoothly.
I want to tell everyone TO NEVER GIVE UP and keep encouraging your Parents. I got so much encouragement from other postings Ask for Interpreter if you are not sure.

I got VISA
Hi,
Thanks for immihelp and who had posted their experiences which helped me a lot in preparing for the interview.
I applied for B1 thro my company for receiving a training in US. I took all relevant documents. I had the invitation letter from the client and the training schedule also. They didn't ask for any extra documents other than what they mentioned in their invitation letter.

I had my interview on 18 of OCT morning for B1 visa.
I was asked the following questions by VO,

1. Why do you want to go to US?
2. How long you have been working with this company?
3. How much you are getting?
4. Who is incurring the expenses for the US trip?

I answered all well. Then the VO told me that he would be issuing VISA to me within one week.

I got the VISA for 10 years multiple entry.

Thanks,

Prathap Singh

visitor visa approved after a refusal
My name is Hamza Iftikhar I am 18 years of age and I am from Pakistan. I applied for a visitor visa of US but my visa was refused in the first attempt under section 214-B. But I reapply after 1 month and prepare for my interview from www.immihelp.com. My second interview was on 13-OCT-2006, he asked me lots of questions and like 50 mins & after that said congratulation I am granting your visa :). He gave me a letter In which it was written, A consular officer has granted your non immigrant visa, but it was not written of how much time, today i recieve my passport and surprise to see a 5 years multiple vusa :) . I am really very thankful to Immihelp. I almost collect all information from this site and ask my maternal uncle to send me these documents. My maternal uncle is living in US for last 30 years.
I would like to sujjest all of you just apply with a belief and prey to GOD and please dont listen to people its real not hard you just have to meet their requirements. I am only 18 years of age & very soon going to US. It was really not hard to get multiple visa as people told me... huh... You know when my visa was refused in first attempt they stamp last page of my passport with ( application recieved) stamp. Every one said its a very bad impression when ever you apply for US or any other country I simply prey to GOD. It really dont harm if you have refused a US visa you know what now people say wow a fresh passport ( means dont hav any visa) got a US 5 years multiple visa, now its not hard for you to get visa of any other country.
So best of luck all of you and thanks a lot to immihelp again. And please read all requirements carefully in immihelp before applying and there are a lot of questions available they mostly ask questions on these topic.
thanks
hamza

Mother's visa rejected 3 times at Delhi Consulate
My mothers visa got rejected 3 times at Delhi Consulate twice in 2004 and once in 2005. She is going to reapply again in Dec 2006. My mother has been using two names and the name on her passport and her name on my passport did not match. Subsequently, I got her name changed in my passport by sending my passport and other required documents to the Indian Embassy in Houston. Moreover, she has been to Saudi Arabia 3 times. Seeing all this, my mom is not getting the visa at all. First time, the VO just matched the name and it didnt. Second time, the VO office did not even bother to look at the documents. Third time was the same scenario. I am trying to obtain a letter from Senator/Congressman but I am not sure when and where to contact them. If you have any idea, please let me know at my email address [email protected]. Also let me know if you have any additional advice so that I can obtain a visa for my mom. Thanks to all immihelp users.
