Ridiculous
my mom(widowed) got rejected for B-2 visa yesterday. The first time she came here was in December 2001. She's worked abroad herself for 20+ years till 1997 and she was as confident as ever, had all the documents, still rejected with no reason given. I think its crazy how it is. ll the trouble they go to weed out legal applicants while illegals and terrorists play loose and free before and after september 11. its ok for some of those who are on the forum to say all the things they do when their parents get the visa but it sure would be interesting to see what they say when the shoe is on the other foot. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Parents got visa
Hi,
First would like to thank all of you. My parents got Tourist visa in first attempt. The interview was short with few questions,

Who is in USA
What does your son do
Which company is he working in
DO you have another son or daughter
Work status

Finally VO granted them the visa.

Thanks once again to all members for sharing their experiences which helps a lot.

Regards,
NE

Parents got their visa at Chennai consulate today
Happy to let you all know that parents got their visa today at Chennai consulate. Here are the details regarding our case

Both me and my brother are in US and greencard holders.
My parents wanted Telugu Interview but were interviewed by the Burkha lady who did not use the translator at all. She was asking questions in English and also was using a few telugu words. Here are the questions asked to my parents

How many children do you have?
Do you have any children here in India?
What is the Visa Status of your children?
What is the total value of your property in India?
What is your annual income?

She did not check a single document apparently.

Good Luck to everyone waiting eagerly for their Visas. Thanks to everyone on immihelp who patiently answered all my questions and shared information regarding their experiences! This site was what kept my spirits alive throughout this process!!!

My parents got their visa rejected for third time at Delhi consulate. The reason given by them was that your son do not have Green Card. Does it look like a valid reason?

Guys please advice what should be done in this condition? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Mom's visa approved 3rd time after 2 denials - Mumbai
Mom's visa approved 3rd time after 2 denials - Mumbai

Background:
Mom is widow and housewife.
Applied 2 times at Mumbai consulate - got denied.
They gave no reason.

Applied third time after gap of one year:
This time - things changed:
Worked with a travel agent/ lawyer in Mumbai to book visa appointment date
Got a letter from a Senator in NJ to vouch for credibility of candidate
Added pictures to show ties back home (relatives photos, wedding pics etc).
Showed more money in liquid/ showing personal assets (prepared more documents like affadavits, stamp papers etc.)
Prepared mom with possible questions and answers (taken from this forum)
Asked her to mention about her self sufficiency, and non-dependency on kids for money.
No regional translator - asked mom to speak in English

Questions asked:
Who is sponsoring you? son
What does your son do?
What does his wife do?
Do they have kids? Yes, just had one recently
Are they calling to babysit? No
Who will sponsor for trip? Partly myself, and partly my son
Who will sponsor the ticket? - same as above-
How long will you go? 3-4 months
When will your d-i-l go back to work? in the next month or so
Who will take care of baby when you are there? Mom replied d-i-l has day care in her office.
Places that you will be visiting: NJ, NY
Show me your sponsor's papers.

Visa approved for 10 yrs.

I hope this helps all that are in the same boat ! Just make sure docs are in order, if possible add any kind of support document (to add some external weight - like senator's letter, more liquid assets etc.), so that they atleast interview the candidate. Also, do prepare parents with questions and answers (I think the confidence of knowing the answers when the visa interviewer asks them a question they are ready for - really gives them a moral boost).

Bottomline - there is no basis for denials! Nothing of the above docs might matter, and all of the above might help in getting the visa! All we can do is try our best! Do not lose hope!

Thank you all for your support, guidance and help!

Best of luck with your issues !

Parents visitor visa rejected
Hi,
My mom went for visitor visa in NOV'05 and got rejected under 214(b) and again this month July'06 both my mom and dad attended for interview, they got rejected.

Questions they are asking is simple.
1. who is there in U.S.?
2. How many kids you have?
3. What is your other daughter doing here?
4. what language you speak(English,Telugu or Tamil)

They are saying Visa is rejected.

I am looking to take some suggestions from Senator here,Can anyone help me how I can find senator and how I have to talk to them?

Any help on this will be appreciated...

Thank You
Vijaya
