Mother's visa rejected for the 3rd time at Chennai
I am really fed up with the way interview is done for parents at the US Conusulate.
This is the 3rd time my Mother went for visitor Visa.

First 2 times rejected and we dint know the reason.

This time yesterday 15th Feb 2006 ,the Burka lady came and she asked

1.How many kids you have
My Mother replied 2, one is here and other is there in US

2.Do u have any property here?
My Mother showed the property details

3. Why you want to go to USA ?
To see my Daughter's family and see some nearby places there.

4. Where does your son in law work
My Mother answerd correctly

Everything seemed good so far.

The final question asked is

5.What does your Husband do?
My Mother replied he is no more.He passed away 10 years back.

Thats all ,that Burka lady replied ,ok as per our rules I cannot give you the visa .

I REALLY WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS TO THE US EMBASSY ASKING IF WE DONT HAVE OUT FATHER ,CANT MY MOTHER COME AND SEE US?

IT IS REALLY BAD FOR MOTHER'S AND CHILDREN OF MY KIND OF SITUATION WHERE WE CANT GO BECAUSE WE DONT GET LEAVE AND WE CANT BRING THEM HERE TO SEE US DUE TO THIS BAD POLICY OF US EMBASSY.

IF THERE IS ANY COMIITEE WHO CAN TELL THE EMBASSY THAT THIS RULE IS REALLY BAD AND BRINGS SO MUCH OF EMOTIONAL FRUSTATION FOR A CHILD AS WELL AS MOTHER WITHOUT HER HUSBAND .

Please relpy about what issues can be taken to stop such ridiculous way of interviewing without even seeing any documents and rejecting just because I dont have my Father.

This issue is definetly be taken care atlease for the future and if there is anyone who can help me on this ,please let me know.

Thanks
msr

Parents visa rejected
Interview was on 13th Feb 2006 at Chennai consulate. They were asked only two questions.
1.If my father was working?
He is retired.
2.How many children they have and where are they?
Since we all 4 daughters are abroad (2 in UK and 2 in USA), their visa was rejected. Reason... they don't have any children with them.

Visa - Rejected
My Parents went to the interview today, and their Visa was rejected. Both of them are working and they planned to come here as visitors under the tourist visa. They were interviewed at Chennai Consulate by the very infamous burkha clad lady. Their visa date was re-scheduled by the Consulate from Jan to Feb. before of the over bookings and bug in their software...
Visa questions.
1. Purpose of visit
2. Where do you work
3. Who is sponsoring. (Daughter)
4. How many children. (1 Son and 1 Daughter)
5. What is Son doing. (Just started job in US)
Sorry Visa rejected. New rule says that if all children are in US, then we cannot grant visa. Further requests had no effect.

My parent's visa rejected
Hi,

My parent's visa got rejected based on 214(b). They had the appointment on 11th February 2006(yesterday) at Chennai Consulate. My father got all the documents with him. The CO just asked 2 questions after checking the documents.
CO: How long do u want to stay in US?
Father: 4 months
CO: When did your daughter went to US?
Father: November 25th 2004.

Then he simply given a printed paper along with all documents. The visa got rejected based on 214(b). I dont understand why it got rejected. They carried every document regarding the property, house, family, pension, bank statements etc. Only I am living in US and all the other sisters are living in India only. My father got proofs for all those things.

Plz help me through your suggestions that how can I proceed further. I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Shanthi.

Visitor visa for parents - Accepted
I am glad to share that my parents got their visitor visa application accepted at the Chennai consulate today. I gained information from immihelp reading user forums when preparing for the interview, and am now giving back.

Basically, the officer asked for the application form and then went through my parents passport.
He asked where i worked and for how long. Then asked if my parents have children living in India - they mentioned about my sister (unmarried) doing her Masters in Trichy. That was all - he asked my parents to go to the fee counter and pay the visa issuance fee. He didnt even care to look at my sponsorship documents or my parents' property documents etc.

My personal opinion is that having unmarried children in India builds a strong case for approval.
