L1, L2 Visa

thanks for the immi help, for helping me preparing for the interview.
Me and my wife had interview on 15th march.
I have prepared myself well for the interview with all the possible questions mentioned in immi help.

I dressed up nicely and went.
I have all my documents ready , accessible at hand.
Here everything goes very fast. So keep passport, conirmation letter, interview appoint copy, hdfc copy in order.
For L1 blanket , keep DD from any nationalized bank with indian rupess (equal to $500) also ready.

---------- Interview -------------------------------
I waited for my turn , viewing at LCD.
Went near the counter 24 and standing infornt of officer with smile.
Me: good afternoon...Sir and gave case documents
VO: good afternoon, how are you?
me: I am fine and how are you sir..
VO: Fine. Have you been to US before.
me: NO
VO: Which company you work for ?
me: YYYY X company, which is product base company
VO: How many years of experience
me: X years, X months sir. ( I had very good exp >8)
VO:what is your salary ?
me: pppppppp per anum sir.
VO: What you do ?
me: I will work for company's XYX properietory products based on xyz technology.

(At this time VO was doing something and asked something which is not heard. I waited for 1 minute, then he gave my documents and said "Your VISA is approved and you will receive with in a week")
I was in bit shock because I didnt complete my answer and no further questions.
me: Thank you sir and have a good day sir
VO: wished something.

No questions for my wife.

Everything completed in an hour.....

Good company name, years of exp and indian salary are fine then skills doesnt matter.
Othewise will ask you question on special skills, What you will do in US etc..

Question: Which Company?

Answer: ZZZ

Question: client ?

Answer: YY

Question: How long are you with YYYY ?

Answer: 7 Yrs.

Question: How many subbordinates in US?
Answer: 5

Question: What does YYYY deliver to YY through your client project ?

Answer: Explained abt the project delivery.

Question: How much does YYYY pay you?

Answer: rrr,000 Rupees


Final Commentsfrom VO: L1A Blanket visa is not clearly approvable.

Thanxn to everyone here at ImmiHelp, My L1A got approved on 14th March.
- I have been going through this forum thoroughly and was very very tensed and nervous for the past 1 week as the date of interview neared.
- My interview was scheduled at 9.45am and Hubby dropped me at the consulate assuring me that i wud definitely get through as before.
- I went alone for the interview and didn't bring my family along for L2A.
- I was 75% sure I might not get it through based upon the high rejection rates for L1A.
- I had been issued twice L1B before.
- I was very nervous until my turn came and the person who was in front of me was rejected L1A. He had come with his wife and was very senior.
- Once my turn came up I went up near the counter and was very confident / bold in my replies.
- The following questions were put up by the VO who was a very senior lady.
Me: Good Morning Ma'am.
VO: Good morning.
VO: Who is ur client?
VO: What they do?
VO: Name of your organization?
VO: How many years of exp with CTS?
VO: What is ur designation?
VO: What is ur salary in Lakhs (in India)?
VO: For how many years u r working as a Manager?
VO: For how many years u r working for the client?
VO: How many reportees do u have at US? Good to tell more than 10
VO: What is ur project name?
VO: How many projects u r going to manage in US?
VO: Have u underwent any managerial training?
VO: What training u have attended and tell the duration of the training.
VO: Do u have the authority to hire and fire?
VO: U will do or the HR will do?
- The VO started signing the papers and said the golden words - "I'm approving your Visa, you will get your passport in a week's time."
Me: Thank you ma'am and have a great day.
        The answers should be bold and clear, pertaining to the questions asked. I gave her accurate details for all the questions asked. Immihelp definitely helped me prepeare well for the interview and the experiences posted here are worth more than anything else.

Questions :

Which company do you work for ?
Who is the client ?
Which location in USA ?
What is your salary in India ?
Why are you required in the US of A ?
In what way are you are specialist ?

The VO asked me if i was awae of thr booklet near the window and I replied I was not aware of it. He tells me it is the Labour law of USA and your Visa is approved. Best of luck for your travel.

During the discussion, he was typing something and moving arund the window picking up some documents. He has not asked any questions to be wife at all nor did he check with the documents.

I got my L1B Approved and it was a great experience. I had 4 -5 basic questions and got it approved.

Me: Good Morning Mam..
VO: Good Morning, How are you doing ?
Me: I am doing good and how about you?
VO: Good Thanks.
VO: Are you from xxx company?
Me: Yes
VO: Who is the client?
Me: yyy (had to spell the client name as it was unpopular); I continued to explain the client business and there business domain.
VO: Which location are you travelling to?
Me: Planning for xyz location
VO: Whats your project about?
Me: I explained the project in brief and continued to explain my role in this project (You have to really self appraise yourself and explain your role criticality)
VO: How many people are there in your project?
Me: Currently 4 at onsite already and I am really required in this phase of designing . 3 more will be joining in the next phase of the application development.
VO: Which visa others will be travelling on ?
Me: May be on H1 but not really sure about that.
VO: Your specialization?
Me: I am on abc domain and I have 5.5 years of experience in this domain and have executed many project in the same domain. Hence the reason I am selected for this project as well.
VO: Your Visa is approved and you will receive it in courier within 7 days.
During all this discussion, she was typing something in the background and she was listening to my answers as well.
As per my experience, VO looks for domain knowledge and your confidence level.

Me: Be specific expalin in 2 to 3 line , Tell abt domain, How it is beneficial to client, Be prepare for this, this is very cruicial

VO: What tools you are using for this and same time looking at some docs.
Me: YYYY

VO: Is your work is any kind of testing ?
Me : No, Explain in 1-2 lines abt exact work (I think This Question came to me based on my previous answers)

My experience is VO is cool and give you time to answer your question, Go through petition docs, Give relavant answers as per ur petition. Follow the etiquettes, If you dont knw any thing tel the truth dnt try to hook the VO they are enough smart :)

Dnt try to knw what happened abt result of other candiates, Just focus on yourself,

Do your best...Dnt worry abt the things you can't control.

Hi i went to Us consulate Chennai My interview was scheduled on March 12th 2012 after finishing the intial process of verifying the documents and giving Bio metric inputs,They asked us(Me and my wife )to proceed to the Next building,...

I was quite in a tension since its a first time for me

i don t know why she did t approve my visa and for my wife she did t ask any questions....i have communicated with confideens,good body language...and my specialization is also very Rare..don t know why she did t approve my Visa

was quite upset after interview even my wife was very much disappointed....Any way guys i feel its purely pre determined one because according to me my interview went very well and i have communicated well ...May be a bit of LUCK i fell any way all the Best.

Thanks to immihelp and the user base for providing all information. It helped me a lot.

I had interview on March 12 and got approved. It was a easy interview as I had Individual petition, having 9+ years out of which 7 years with the current company which is well known financial company in US.

VO: Good Morning
Me: Wished him same.
VO : Which company you work for
Me: YYYY
VO : Whats your exp. in current company?
Me: 6 years 9 months
VO: whats your salary
Me: YYYY per annum
VO: Your Individual or blanket?
Me: Individual
VO: Have you seen this booklet ?, (showing at one at his desk)
Me: No, I havent'
VO: This is US labour rule book and you qualify for this visa. I am approving your visa but told that your visa requires from additional administrative work. Issue 221 (g) pink slip and asked to submit my passports to another counter.

Am surprised to see that, he did not ask any Q to my wife, kid and there was no question on specilization/job role etc.

My learnings:
> VO's are very cool and very attentive to every case.
> If you are from reputed US firms and worked for more than 3-4 years are big plus
> If your visa is Individual, it is rest assured.
> Fewer questions if you are Individual petition.

Got My L1B approved few days back.

ME:blah blah
VO: Salary in india?
ME: Salary in rupeers PA is XX

VO : We are approving your visa , you will get your passport in 5 working days.
