Friends, Avoid going to Nogales
Hi Frenz,

I went to Nogales on May13th for H1B stamping, Thank God I got the Visa. In Nogales they are asking for everything,
1. contract b/w ur employer and client.
2. paystubs
3. contact info at client side.
4. tax forms, what did you do in ur OPT and where
u did ur opt?
I haven't had the client contract with me right at that time, so they asked me to fax or email it. Called my employer and got it done.
on may13th, 3 guys came for H1B. for one guy, they asked the contract b/w employer and vendor,
vendor and client. but his vendor refused to give
the info, eventhough consulate officer called him. that vendor siad, it's confidential. so that guy is stuck there.
one guy came for L1-H1 transfer, they told him that his h1 petition was 2 yrs old and asked him to produce some more additional docs.
I heard from one of the guys hu came for stamping on may 12th, the day before me, that on may 12th also nearly 4 guys came for H1 stamping and for all of them they asked the client contract and contact info.
So better go with all the abov mentioned docs including ur client ID or avoid Nogales.
if u need further info email me at [email protected]

Nogales H1B Visa stamping process Apr 2008, PIMS
Hi,

This board helped me a lot in preparing for my stamping so thought I should put down my experience here as well.

One major point was that for couples going together where both are on H1B, try get 2 appointments. They only do PIMS check for primary H1B so the spouse who also is on H1B may not get their PIMS check done by them as soon as an appointment in made. This happened to 1 couple there. The guy got his passport back in 1 day but lady was asked to return in 3-4 days after her PIMS verification was done.

Otherwise there process was quite painless wrt to PIMS. No one else got stuck and everyone received passport the same day.

Some points I thought would be useful:

1) I drove from Tucson to the border and parked car in a lot there. Walked across the border, surrendered my I-94 and took a taxi to counsalte.

1) I had an appointment at 8am, arrived there at 8am and then went to Banamex to pay fee and get receipt. The Banamex is 15 mins walking distance from consulate and opens at 9am. I left the counsalate at 8am and reaches Banamex around 8:15-8:20am. I waited there in line ( I was first :) till 9am. As soon as the bank opened they took my fee, gave me a receipt and I was out of there in 5 mins flat.

2) Went back to counsulate, had my car remote and cell phone which I left with a lady in a mobile truck taqueria for $1-2. I also bought a taco from her (optional:) Seemed trustworthy. Ogf course, had just keys and a cheap cell phone and 1 book. Books not allowed inside either, how to entertain oneself..?

3) The process inside was very straightforward, yes DS-156,157 and 158 all reqired for everyone , male or female.

4) They said visa is approved and please return next day 3pm, but guard told us to just come back the same day itself.. Everyone got their passports back that day itself at 3pm.

5) Went to the mal next door on foot and sat there with my book (a good thriller) for 3 hours and went back to pick up passport which i dule received back. When you go back, again leave your items with taqueria lady as you have to go in again without the above mentioned items (cell, remote, book etc).

6) Got out around 4:10 ish, one of the guys who was also there in the queue offered me a ride back to US. Coming back, they took the H1Bs out of line upstairs to get I-94. That was the tiring bit, took about 30-40 mins

7) walked back to US side, picked up the car and
drove back to Tucson.

Do not worry about PIMS here if you have made an appointment atleast 7-10 days in advance. I had made my appt 10 days before. Please see caveat for couples above>

if any questions please email snailkarma@gmail>com

good luck>

Hello

I had scheduled an appt in Nogales 23rd April and
had emailed details to the consulate the same day. I got a reply from the Nogales consulate saying that they would not be able to verify if PIMS check is done or not via email. However they said that making the appointment initiates the PIMS check. Any one has comments on if one should go or not based on their statement that the PIMS check is initiated on making an appointment?

Regards
Renu

Stamping in Nogales
Hi All,

went for stamping in nogales on march 3,2008. i would like share my experience with you all. Before going to stamping i suggest you all to email all ur details(I-797, passport#,passport details, etc..) to the state consulate office(ex: [email protected])

Below is a sample email that you can send to the consulate with your H1-B scanned copies.

Dear Consulate Officer,

I am Abc (your name), working as a Programmer Analyst(Your designation as on your H1-B or LCA) on H1B with xxx(your company name). I scheduled an appointment at Nogales Consulate for getting my H1-B visa stamped on (appointment date) and my confirmation number is below:

xxx: NOG 00 00 00 00 00 000099999

I would like to know if my PIMS check is already cleared for my I-129 petitions. I am attaching scanned copy of approval of I-797 as pdf file to this mail.

Attachments: 1. xxx1 H1.pdf

Hope to hear from you soon.

It really helped me a lot I received response from the consulate the same day. They said My Petition does not appear in PIMS, they have sent a request. After the request is sent, it usually takes at least 2 working days for petition to appear in the system. By the time I reached Nogales it was cleared I emailed my details 4 working days prior to my appointment date. An Indian couple had an appointment on the same day they knew that new security check is creating lot of problem but still they took a chance unfortunately their visa is not approved, but they used their AP and returned back. If u r looking for a motel in nogales(US side) I recommend Bestwestern Siesta Motel owned by desi(Manu) phone# 5202874671, 5202230299(mobile). he will help u in getting DD charges 40 to 50 bucks. He is not an agent or broker, helping our fellow Indian just give him a call and he will tell u how to proceed.

A suggestion for ppl going to Nogales for stamping
I would suggest ppl who are going to nogales to email all their I797 information, appointment date and other related information to [email protected]

Also ppl who are going for first stamping and got their H1 approved back in april-may 2007, probably your data is in the PIMS system, so not a big issue for you guys. I had the same case, and I emailed all my information 4 days prior to my appointment date and got the stamping done on the same and also got the passport on the very same day. So I was back in US in just one day.

So just email all your information atleast a week prior to your appointment date and provide all possible information they might need to start your PIMS verification.

Just do this and rest is all your luck. Luck in the sense hope your name doesnt match some terrorist who is on their watch list and stuffs like that.
