L1, L2 Visa

hi,
 my hubby has got the L1 visa now my kid and I are applying for the L2 visa. my hubby's company is not inviting the family, so v dont have a invitation letter for us. will i have a prob in getting thr visa. plz any1 reply

Please help me in letting me know since i need to apply for the L1 VISA soon...

I have spent nearly 5 years in a reputed IT company. However, this is an existing client for whcih i would be joining for and i dont have prior client experience. Will this lead to rejection.

How to handle when VO will ask how long you have been working with this client.

I am a bit confused whether its wise to apply for L1 now..

I had gone for the visa interview at the Delhi US consulate under L1A (Manager/Executive) category.
The questions asked to me were,
1)What does your company do?
2)What is your role?
3)How much is your Indian and how much will be your US salary?
4)Do you have hire and fire authority?
 For this question I said yes and the VO asked me the visa status of the resources who would be reporting me to in US.I answered all are on H1B visa.Hearing this he said then I dont have hire and fire authority since L1A doesnt give me that right and I should file my visa under L1 individual category.

He also revoked my existing B1 visa saying I had stayed too long on this visa in US ( I had visited US thrice before and each time stayed for more than 2 months).
So I didnt get the L1 visa and my B1 also get cancelled.

Now I have some questions which will help me to decide what to do next
1)If I file under L1 individual category what are the chances that my visa will get approved,wont the hire/fire question come up?
2)Wont he revoking of my B1 visa impact the future L1 visa I file?

Please guide me.

I was royally screwed for 15mins by Visa officer…
I guess they are trying to put more pressure on you, so that you get disturbed and give up that interview answering some unrelated things.
 
Me : Good Morning mam (with a smile)
VO : Good Morning Sir (no smile at all)
VO: Can u give me that folder
Me : sure
VO :She checked the salary mentioned in the I-129 Petition, As your company is paying very less salary for u in this type
          of Visa ,U need to try for other type of VISA.I can’t provide this.
VO : Even u have very less experience with the client
Me: I have 47 months of overall experience and 17 months of experience with client. (Being Calm and confident I was
      quite for a min and I didn’t concentrate on salary , I was concentrating on Product and framework)
VO : Even 17 months is very less experience. I can’t provide this Visa. VO kept on repeating about salary. Then I stopped
        VO .
Me : I told I am specialized in this product ,have well hands on experience on this product and developed my company
       specific framework following my company’s V-process Software development life cycle model.
VO : I don’t see anything special knowledge in this. VO said even I am working with windows for past 20 years so am I
        specialized in this.. right.
Me : your right..
VO : She was repeating that I can’t provide this Visa as your company is offering u very less US salary for L1.
VO : She asked me your company specific framework is built on which technology
Me : I told xxx Technology
VO: xxx !!, There are many people in US who are Specialized in xxx ..We don’t require you.
Me: Immediately I told , No - We extended the behavior of xxxx technology and developed our company specific
   framework .On top of our company Specific framework our product is developed (Built).
I told this product development was started from Jan 2010 and I was involved from day one of his product development , well knowledge in business and functional flows of the product and developed my company specific framework following ccc proprietary guidelines and standards. So these made me Specialized.
(She was satisfied with my answer and continued with other question)
VO : What you’re going to do in US.?
Me : I told I will be enhancing the my company specific framework and implementing my company specific framework components to various other modules which are xxx and yyy.
VO : I believe that Ur the only person in your company who knows about this framework right….!
Me: told I am the only person from my company who knows this specific framework.
VO : ok (she rejected Visa for two people before my turn)
Me : just smiling
Vo : she just stamped on my I-129 petition ,kept my visa with her and told your Visa is issued.
Me : Thank you mam.
 
Finally I conveyed my specialized skill and got the visa.:-)

Tip :

1.Please read this blog experience without fail.Please don’t miss out reading what ever mentioned in this immihelp.com
    experience section.Its bible for Visa applicants.
2.Be prepared for question with confidence,Calm & relaxed.There is an old saying “If your calm and confident – then you
   can rule the world”
3.Please ask your friends to take mock interview for 5 to 6 times before you attend the interview.This builds your
   confidence level.I bet you.
4.Just ignore the people who are getting rejected and so on. Just think only and VO is there in that Hall. You need to
   prove yourself in 10 mins. It’s like marketing yourself and sell yourself in a very short duration.
5.Preparation is the key to get Visa

My Husband has recently traveled to US on L1B visa.
Now I want to file my L2 visa. Please tell me how much time does it takes... usually after how many days we get appointment, how much time does it takes in processing.? Please reply its urgent.

I m very thankful to this forum,used to read it all the time.

Me and my wife had our interview at 10am,reached at 9:00 as usual big queque but everything went smoothly,Xray screening,fingerprinting,DD submition,sat for 45min for our interview turn.

Once our token number was announced,2other people were ahead of us in the q.Both were on some kind of work visa,both got there visa approved.not lot of questions asked.

Our turn came and VO greeted us:how r u doing today?
Me:Answered

VO:Which company do u work for?
Me:XYZ

VO:How many people do u manage?
ME:ans

VO:What would u be doing on daily basis?
Me:Ans

VO:How many years of experience?
Me:Ans

Then the VO started stamping our I129 and said our visa is approved and will recieve our passport in a week time.

No questions were asked to my wife for L2.
FYI:The VO was a lady and very nice by nature,was asking questions just for sake of it,didnt even listen to the full ans and said our visa was approved.Got very lucky there.At the end getting a visa approved depends on the VO,mine was very nice whereas the VO at the next counter kept rejecting visas.

Appointment at 8 A.M 8th June L1B

Reached there by 6:45 A.M

Huge crowd piled up and all users from 8A.M-12 P.M are sent inside irrespective of their schedule times. First come first serve.

All process went on.
"Counter 4 for collecting docs"
Counter 2 then counter 8 finger prints
Long wait for interview for 2 hours

One before me was being asked the purpose of visit he mentioned of some repair. He was rejected. The guy was upset as it's his second rejection. Came my chance

VO: Purpose of tavel
ME: xxxx
VO: Where r u going to work from client place/office?
ME: office
VO: When did u join this company?
ME:xx-xxx-xxxx
VO: From when r u working on the tool
ME: since I joined the company.

For L2:
VO: When did you get married date?
xx-xx-xxxx
VO: How many people attended the weeding?
1500 people
He gave a warm smile and said u guys have big mariages

Then the magic words as our friends say "Your visa is approved u will receive passport in week's time"

Conclusion:
Specialized skill should be unique should not look like u made up one
Be confident
Do not get upset and start debates as it affects visa chances of people behind u . Understand their pulse rate too :)

I can not approve your VISA now.

I had my interview on June 7th at 9.30. I reached there by 8.45 and there was already a huge queue for the BEP counter.
I had to wait for more than 1.5 hrs to get in to the Cash counter. After that I had to go to the Biometrics counter which took around an hour. Then to the VO counter and 4 ppl already in there too. It took around 20 mins before my turn came up.

Interview:

VO: Good Morning!
Me: Very Good Morning!
VO: Give me your file and also your wife.
I gave them
VO: What will you do in the US?
Me: I gave an introduction of myself and the project
VO: I think you dont understand the question. This VISA is tough to get.
Me: I started telling him my role/responsibilities
It was visible he wasnt convinced.
VO: Interrupted me and said I want your specialised skill.
Me: I told him XYZXYZ ...
But it didnt work out.
VO: Sorry I will have to refuse you L1B

I wasnt prepared for this question as the first one.
My suggestion:
-Please dont say anything else apart from what is being asked.
-Also be prepared for any questions on what you say. They may dig into it.
-Please be prepared to stress on your specialisation

Hi All,

My L2 visa interview has been scheduled next week.My husband has recently recieved a L1B visa and he is travlling to US soon.

Since my husband company is BEP company hence they could not schedule interview in HINDI.

Do anybody here know that can i give interview in HINDI or can i ask to consulate staff for interview in HINDI?

I am going to Hyderabad consulate.

Please advice.
