Indus Fast Remit is good for transferring money from the US to India.

I have been remitting money to India for the last 3+ years and have tried most resources like Remit 2 India, ICICI, SBI etc.

I am more than convinced that the best service provider for outbound remittance from UK to India is our trusted State Bank of India.

Reasons:

1) Always the best quote - Most days the exchange rate quoted is just 30-40 pence lower than the interbank rate whereas other providers take a much higer cut.

2) In many instances, i have seen my indian nre / nro account credited within 24 hours (surprisingly) - thats amazing.

3) online free remittance if you have a sbi account that is hassle free

Well done SBI

Sending money to India via Indus Fast Remit (of IndusInd Bank)is easy. It takes about 10 mins to register, and in about 3 day's time you would have an Indus Fast Remit account to make use of. There are no hassles involved, and money transfers happen fast. http://bit.ly/91LYZ2

Guys, i have found out SBI is the most secure way to transfer money, although there is some time involved in creating your account, but thats for our own security. Before sending the money through my US bank account, they performed a dummy transcation(i guess for security purposes), I have found they have the best exchange rates, money is trnasferred within 5 working days as promised, no hassles involved as bank transfer takes place and the beneficiary can go to the bank and collect the money.
Very happy with the service so far.

However, when u first tried to open my SBI remittance account, it gave me a error, that pissed me off.

I would suggest SBI, for less headache of transferring the money.
Its just my personal opinion, i did a lot of research before sending money, and i would encourage everyone to do some research b4 any transaction.

Dear Friends,

I recently wanted to send money to India very urgently $9000. I booked the transaction through remit2india. They took in my case 25 days to get the money to be transfered in to beneficiary account.

It was worst, horrible, terrible experience in my life. I went through lot of issues during that 25 days. In remit2india there are two types of customer services. One way you can contact 1-888-736-4886 (relationship managers and info@remit2india. Relationship managers do not know any thing once you book the transaction. They do not have any control over the remittance. This fact I came to know after several attempts.
The other department info team writes "We are looking into your case and shall get back to you within the next 24 - 48 working hours. Should we require more time for further investigation, we will keep you informed”.
But they will write after a week.

This is the horrible service. We need to take legal action on this company. Please beware of remit2India guys.

I converted some singapore dollars into rupees earlier last month

I was given an indicative rate which I understood would be subject to change as the markets move. Between the time I booked the transaction and receipt of money, the rupee weakened further and the SGD-INR rate went up. However, what I got was a much lower rate than that was even first indicated to me. This is counter-intuitive, it’s in inverse to market movements, is contrary to any established logic and there is absolutely no reason for the rate to fall. I provided remit2india with Bloomberg and other official sources and they have confirmed that the exchange rate in fact moved in the other direction.

But they keep delaying any response or action so to avoid the issue and keep circling around the bush by talking about their back office using some market rate.

Its a clear rip off strategy where their website gives an indicative rate but they apply a way lower rate when they actually covert your money...trapping gullible clients like us who go to their website relying on their so-caled 'indicative' rate

HDFC QUickremit is bad news. Stay away. Tried Xoom, and they seem to be fast, at least on the first transaction.
