Hello Readers,
Just want to share my experiences to everybody... It was too late for me to find this helpful website..I wish i found this before going to my citizenship interview.. this is my story.. me and kids came here as K3 & K4 visa last 2003, I got my gc on 2004 but unfortunately my eldest didn't get his gc because of age, but it's ok..we were able to filed a separate petition for him. while my youngest got his pgc.. now let's move on.. last April 2007 I applied for naturalization, gathered all the doc requirements..everything's ok.. then got my fp, then waited for several months for my interview... I was with my husband.. he wants to joined me in the interview but the officer said he cannot, with a very strong and command word.. then I got really nervous... when we entered his office cubicle.. he was really mean, he commands me to put my belongings to the other chair then he asked me what is my proof being married to a USC, I was a bit shocked then finally I realized he was asking for documents, like IRS, marriage contract.. then he started scrutinizing my docs, then with-out any advice he started asking me civcs q and history, he asked if i read that word and asked to write a simple sentence...the most shocking to me is that and he read my doc that I've worked in a mental health, he said like.. so this is whre your husband live? And I said no, that's where I'm working.. it is clear on my paper that I was working there... then he said again like an insult way of pronouncing it that.. " oh so your the fifth wife of your husband" I said yes.. but i think i should say that time " and so?" and he kept asking me over and over again about the date of our weeding, over and over gain, do we pay taxes, over and over gain.. the interview lasted I tihnk 20 minutes but it's 20 minutes gruelling and adjectaitng minutes of my life... the way the officer held the interview was like Iam a criminal.. then finally he said , I passed the interivew but he cannot make any desicion yet, i stood up and grab my stuff and I just said thank you, then finally he smiled and said thank you on my home language...I want to get out of the building right away.. I told my husband about how he threated me and he said he was also insulted the way the officer handled my interview.. for how many nights nad days, my chest were trembling.. what did I do wrong... will i get an intivation letter for oath taking or what... I couldn't sleep.. my husband said if only he knew that this will happen, we will hire a lawyer.. but after a month i got my invitation letter for my oath taking... finally it was over but the nightmare of that interiew still vivid in my mind and feels like it was just happened yesterday... it was an experienced that I will never forget! This experienced it brought a lesson for me that no matter your honest, no matter how authentic your docs are.. still don't feel to confident because you'll never know how their going to address your situation...

mailed form:6/30/08
FP: 07/24/08
Interview: 08/24/08
Oath ceremony: 10/15/08
Received passport: 10/31/08
So the whole process from application to actually getting my americam passport it was exactly 4 months!!. Beyond my most optimistic expectations not only in terms of timing but also of lack of any complications along the way(very quick and objective interview, no waiting time for finguerprinting, quick response from each estep to de next in general. I think that the processing time is faster now because their sistem was reinforced after the increase of applications in part due to the elections, but now that is past and the price is a little stiff for some to the point of being a regulator of excessive demand.
I am very happy and wish you all still waiting the best of luck.

I had my interview today at NYC and I would like to share my experience with all.It was scheduled for 8:20 am,I got there around 7:30.Security guard checked the interview letter at entrance before letting me in ,after passing security check, got to the 7th Floor-room 700.I was handed in one form to choose between the new and current test.Waited about 25 mins and my name was called and I headed towards that door, the lady at the door took me to her office, sworn me to be truthful and started the interview process, asked to see my green card and passport.Verfied all the information,I had on my N-400.Then she asked me to write a simple english sentence and read a small passage.Asked 6 civics questions, once I got them all right, she didnt ask any more.Handed me a paper saying congratulations and another paper telling me to wait for my oath letter,so I headed towards that room.I was done with my interview at around 8.10am.It lasted about 10 mins, the wait for oath letter was ridiculious and I waited almost more than 3 hrs for it and finally got out around 11:30.I have been scheduled for oath ceremony next week at NY district court and it is finally getting to be over soon,I feel like jumping out of joy:)
I wish every body luck

Hi Guys,

My citizenship journey was quite short and easy. applied for citizenship on july 9 within two weeks got my fingerprinting and september 13 was my interview it went very well. NO problems what so ever, the person who took the interview was a very sweet person took less then 5 min to finish my interview.
Verified certain things on N-400 form everything looked ok. signed it.
Never asked for any documents.
Asked 5 simple questions.
1)who is president of USA today?
2)who becames president if both president and vice president die?
3)who is martin luther king jr?
4)who wrote declaration of independence?
5)how many states are there in USA?
After this she told me to read a simple sentence.
I COOK VERY WELL. and then told me to write a sentence in english I WANT TO BE A US CITIZEN
That's it passed the test and i have my oath cermony tommorrow sep 17 same place.

Hope this helps. Dont be scared its very easy just relax and go. GOOD LUCK.

Hi guys... Thank you very much for this form.

I have applied for Naturalization about two weeks ago and received a recepit indicating that the USCIS has received my application. I was worried, because I have not attached the copy of my green card. I called the Customer Service Department and they told me that, if they are able to varify your identity, then they might not need to ask for additional request.

Anyways, after ONLY TWO weeks of sending my documentation for N-400, today I have received request for Fingerprint. Next week I am going for a finger printing... I am exited.. I hope that after fingerprinting, the invitation for interview will come soon...

Best of luck to everybody...

Seattle WA - September 11, 2008 at 02:58:40 AM
Hello Everyone.

i just thought i should let you know that yesterday was my interview which went very smooth. I had filed last year in june and had my fingerprinting is jan 2008.

I must tell you that the place is very organised and not a problem at all. Ofcourse I beleive that if you have all your paperwork with you then it should be a smooth sail.

Ok My interview was at 12.30pm and I reached 45min early and they check ur appointmtent time and let u in. no food and drink allowed.
Then around 12.45 my name was called she smiled and we wished each other and i was taken to a room.
She made take oath and very sweetly she asked me how is the wheather? hmmm anyways I started telling her about the wheather and then she asked me few questions regarding no drugs..no jail stuff like that my answer to all those questions were "no".
she wanted to see my greencard, driver's license and she said if i had my ssn card which i had carried. I think no harm will come if you carry all ur papers.

Then she wanted to check whether I am still married and then she asked me wheather i have taken any recent trips which I had taken so she wanted the dates which I gave her.and she asked how was the trip. I replied that it was very nice and relaxing and we talked a little about the place i visited
she asked how log we have been married and wanted to see papers with our names together-- Here i want to mention-Please if you are applying for cititzenship based on family ie thru husband or wife then please keep all ur paperwork where ur names are together like bills, lease papers, bank statements, taxes stuff like that were ur names are shown together.

Then she asked me 10 civic question from those 100 q/a book which they give you at fingerprinting
Q1-how many stipes?-13
Q2-what color? red/white
Q3-what is congress? house of rep and senate.
Q4.how many senate?-100
q5-why 100? 2 from each state.
she said good.
Q6-Who is the gov of ur state?Rick perry. She said she was impressed and made me write 'i want to be a united states citizen' and made me read 'i am a good cook'( I was smiling and thinking ofcourse i am). she then asked me are u a good cook and i said ofourse.

Then she asked me question like traffic tickets and any criminal activities and i guess these are routine questions. I said no to all and she said I am role model citizen since I did not have any tickets or fines. She then made me check the last page and asked me to verify the address and name and ssn and stuff like that and then she said i am approved and she gave me oath ceremony day and time.

please make sure u have ur pictures taken before u reach there and if not then there is a photo studio right accross the building. They might ask for the pict if they don't approve of the ones which u had sent when u had filed.I was not asked.

So all the best to everyone
