Transit Visa

Friends,

My dad is coming from India to USA via Lufthansa in May. I enquired if he needed a Transit Visa. I sent an email to [email protected] to find that out, and here is the reply I got:

"From 1st January 2005 all Indian nationals have to apply for an Airport Transit Visa except greencard holders (10 years validity) when they are flying via Germany to India or to the United States of America.This Airport Transit Visa can also obtained at any German airport while in Transit.

Also, if you check out their website, they mention under Exception 4(for India):

c)Airport transit travelers who are holding a valid visa for the USA (an approval notice is not sufficient), Canada or Switzerland, are not obliged to obtain an airport transit visa prior to departure. Until further notice for these travelers a “visa on arrival” will be issued by the competent authorities at the respective airport in Germany and no specific action is required from them to obtain an airport transit visa.
