My mother came to US last month. She has a 10 year multiple entry visitor visa. This is her second trip to US. Her authorized stay expires on Feb 10,2006. I would like to apply for an extension of stay. What would be the
best possible reason that I can show to support her extension of stay?
Also, if her extension is denied, would that void her 10 year visa?
Thanks

schoda,
first... do not apply for an extension before 6 weeks from the I-94 expiry (which otherwise gives them the idea that this was preplaned)
Now regarding the reason... the best is to let them now that you were not able to spend enough time to take your mom around because you were not able to get as much vacation as you wished. Then give them a detailed plan of where you want your mom to take and when... I mean the exact dates.
for example
Las Vegas --- March 2'nd week 06
Niagra Falls --- May 1'st week 06
.....
Good luck.
PS: Search the web... there are lots of sample letters out there.

reason: more tourism.
Yes, if extension is denied, 10 year visa is void.

It is incorrect to say that 10 year multiple entry visa is cancelled if I94 extension is denied.

eb2_I485_RD0901 is wrong.
If you want, I can point you to the exact law that explicitly states this.

Please read http://www.immihelp.com/visas/222g.html.
Unauthorized stay occurs as soon as the extension application is denied, unless the person has applied so much in advance of I-94 expiration date. If the date in I-94 is expired, the person is in valid status only as long as the extension application is pending or approved.
