I recently got my Green card through CP. I have a temporary 551 stamp valid for 1 year on my passport.
Do I need visa for travel to European countries and Australia.
Can somebody direct me to web site where i can find more details regarding this.

you would definitely need visa to go to Europe/Australia or any other country except Canada which permits you to visit w/o a visa for Green Card holders

Not necessarily true Nikk..
For example, Switzerland immigration allows US citizens and permanent residents to enter Switzerland without visa.
But something to note here:
The immigration authorities don't consider the I-551 stamp as a sufficient proof of green card. They need to see the plastic card.
Puerto Rico is a US possession, so you can travel there without a visa.
Bahamas is a separate country, which may or may not require a visa. Check with the Bahamas consulate.

Requirement for a visa depends mainly on each and every country and on your citizenship(s).
With some countries, GC helps.

Im wating on the plastic card. Do I need visa to go to canada? or will the stamp on passprt work? Im told canadian residents drive to border get a t1 visa on the spot to enter us. does it work the same for residents with/without plastic card??
You don't need a visa to travel to Canada, you can travel with just the stamp.
After today's events, there will be much, much tighter security, so expect delays and questioning.
