My father got his visitor visa for 10 years. I believe they stamp I 94 for 6 months, Can he extend his stay after coming here.

Can he go out of country like Canada and get extension...?

any input appreciated.

Thanks

Extensions are allowed but they have their own problems.
The response (approval or denial) to an extension application may be
delayed to a point much after the I-94 expiry date, and if a denial is
received you must leave immediately. In such a case, depositing an Expired I-94 when leaving US will record an overstay and you must carry evidence
of extension application and denial to convince the officer when coming to US the next time.

And extensions are usually not granted on casual grounds. 6 months is
considered long enough a stay for a visit so I think one should leave
near the end of 6 months and revisit again after another 5-6 months rather than apply for a casual extension.
