How long for card to arrive?

I got my I-551 stamped at local INS office in SFO on 11/7. Does anyone know how long it takes for the cards to arrive?

Also, I was told that I should not move from my current address, as it might affect the delivery of the cards. Is this true? Why?

you can move. my mail [the card] was forwared to my new address.

I was specifically told by the local INS office that I shouldn't move because post office will not forward letter from government. My lawyer also advised me to not to move.

But from your post it seems that it is not true. There's another post by someone whose card went back to SC because of wrong address, and got it back after correcting the address. Seems it's not as scary as it is made out to be.

Let me clarify. When i was at POE, I told the INS guy that I
will be moving in a month and he gave me a blue change of address
form. He told me to fill that out and send it when I'm ready
to move. I mailed it i'd say 2-3 weeks before i actually moved.
My card when i received had a forwarding address on the envelope
so I assumed that it was forwarded even when the post office
found out that I didn't live at the old address.

POE
date: 09/12/00
Change of address form mailed: 09/end/00
I moved on: 10/12/00
Card received at new address: 11/07/
