Getting plastic card

I did CP in Bombay on Aug 29. My 140 was processed through NSC. My port of entry was Newark. Where should i call to check the status of my "plastic card". How long does it normally take ?

Call TSC.

It should take about 2-3 months.

I entered the U.S. in mid July with immigrant visa. I called TSC about the card processing and the IIO could not find my record when I gave him my A number. Is this normal?

The IIO said it would take 6 months for the card processing (or for them to enter my registration into the computer, I don't remember). Would it be ok if I travel outside of the U.S.with the I-551 stamp? Would there be a problem at the airport when I get back if my A# is still not in the INS computer?

Did you file I-485 before doing CP? Did you give the A number from that I-485?

You won't have any problem traveling with I-551 stamp.

No, I did AC-140 for CP and not file I-485.

When I got my stamp at Newark, I was assigned a new A#. I told the IO that I had been assigned a different A# during AOS. He replied that the number on the visa was the valid one. So, when I call TSC should I refer to my new #?

I still have not got my plastic card since I came in the U.S. in mid July.

I faxed the inquiry to both TSC and CSC and filed G-731 to them as well but have not got any response yet.

I called TSC today and the IIO said I should call CSC since I entered the US in CA (CSC IIO told me to call TSC two months ago !). I called CSC later and the IIO still could not find my record after I gave him my A#. Then his computer crashed and my cell phone went off and got nothing from the IIO.

Anyone has the same situation? What should I do next? Keep waiting?
