Background:
- I got my GC 5.5 yrs ago.
- I worked for my sponsor for one year even before my GC was resolved.
- Subsequently, I changed profession and left my sponsor for another who started a new labor cert.
- A year later, when I was about to adjust status based on the new I-140, I discovered that my GC was approved based on the 1st sponsor.
- I was advised to take the GC since rescinding it would raise more issues with USCIS.
- I have since gotten a letter from my first sponsor stating that when my GC was approved, work for me was no longer available there.
- Through FOIA I got copies of my files showing no record of my I-140 files from my second sponsor.

Issue:
- On and after my GC approval I was no longer with my sponsor (or in my profession).

Questions:
- Should I apply for naturalization?
- Should and how do I explain my situation to USCIS?
- Can you recommend a good lawyer who is familiar with the naturalization office in the SF bay area and can handle a case like mine?

Thanks, J

I suggest you don't apply for naturalization because this question will definitely come up. You are supposed to work for that employer, AFTER you gc through them.
