L2 & being paid in 1099 MISC

Hi,

Can someone please let me know whether it is legal for anyone with L2 based EAD to work as a independent contractor and get paid in 1099 MISC instead of in W2?

Yes on L2 EAD it is legal to get paid either through W2 or 1099. But the problem is, on 1099 there is no taxes paid to Government you have to calculate the taxes at the end of the year and pay to the government. W2 is straight forward where the employers will deduct the taxes and pays you.

It's only my assumption not a legal one..
