All,
My packet III for attorney certified consular processing was received by Mumbai on Monday of last week (7/24/00) no word from them yet.
I sent an email and also trying calling them but in vain.
Any estimates as to when should I expect a case number and an interview after that.
Any help will be appreciated.
Roger

No idea. I have heard it can be anywhere from 2-3 months to get Interview.
By now you should have received case number.... Please let this board know when you receive it so others can get an estimate of how long it is taking to get a case number sent by email/mail.
Also, how did you verify that the consulate has in fact received your shipment?

Roger,
Can you post your contact info (email) so I can get in touch with you.
We are roughly in sync on this and it would help to talk.
Cheers,
Maharaja

Roger/Maharaja/anyone else:
I sent my packet 3 to Mumbai in the second week of July. If you are in a similar time frame please email me, and we could exchange ideas/plans/etc.
My email is nscwaiting@yahoo.com.
Good luck.

Guys,
I did regular CP. My packet 3 forms reached on June13. I am scheduled for AUG25. I suppose if you make it reach before the end of 2nd week of the month and you have a pretty good chance of getting an interview within 2 1/2 month.

Got my case # from Mumbai too; called around the same time.
Really difficult to get the number, but they were very polite and helpful.
I am not sure (did not ask) why the confirmation/case # emails were not sent though.

Since today was observed a BANDH in Mumbai we could get through (lucky us AH!).
Otherwise it is difficult.
Did you ask them about the interview date?
I did and I got a very vague answer saying that it might be scheduled in October if the dates PD's remain current.
My PD is Jan 1999 for EB2.
How about you?

The stock answer is:
It will take 2.5 months from when your app is entered into the system.
I have sent emails to both you & Maharaja. Please keep in touch, and we'll help each other through.
Good luck.

Roger, NSCwaiting,
Thanks for staying in touch. Does receiving the Case # mean assurance that the case has been accepted?
Regards,
Maharaja.

Yes. That's a key step esp. for EB3s.

Mercury,
I feel it is genuine. In www.immigration.com, the person had EAD and then gone for CP. Which is considered illegal
by the consulate (as claimed by someone on the discussion forum). There is a long thread on this. Check it out.
Any person who fakes information on discussion board is sic...

Hi vfPeter:
From many readings on this and other forums I have come to understand that one can go for CP via I824 (after having filed for I485 & also EAD). Is this a wrong assumption?
All the same I would like to look at the thread in immigration.com that u mentioned about. Can you publish the name & or the date of the thread.
Thanks.

vfpeter,
I do not have an EAD/AP yet but there is a very high likelihood of me getting it before going for the interview.
Is that going to be illegal?
Can you explain please?

The guy who got rejected had been previously approved for CP in december1999. At that time he decided to file for AOS.
Later after 6 months he tried to do AC-140 and Mumbai rejected because they saw that he has been approved for CP and it is clearly mentioned in the web site that people who have been approved for CP should go through NVC.

Hi Roger,
Personally I have no idea about this issue. But I had read two postings in different discussion forum. Both the cases were similar. One was from Mumbai and the another was from Delhi consulate. Both of them had got EAD and were rejected. Is there a common reason between their rejection? may be / may be not.
Someone had posted in www.immigration.com giving the reason. My advise is that you should talk to your attorney office and ask them.

Hi ramkyk:
If the only reason for the rejection (of the AC) was that the case was approved under a different process are you suggesting that the consulate may not have a problem even if the 6 yrs H1 is up and one is using EAD while appearing for an interview? Please clarify.
If you have any other info on how such cases (H1 time is up + applicant is on EAD) would be adjucated please do post the same.
Thank you.
