Hello Forum

I have been scheduled for an Oath Ceremony by the end of this month.During the process, I will have to surrender my GreenCard.

I am planning to travel to India in the month of July, Do I have to apply for an US passport & get a VISA to travel to India ? or is there any other procedure ?

Thanks,

Once you have taken oath, you would immediately be an American citizen, hence will require US Travel documents like the passport and all applicable visas. You can expedite your US passport by paying extra fee. In order to travel to India you will certainly need Indian visa.

PIO/OCI may be better deals but, considering your time situation it may be better to get a visa which does not require as much documentation...
