3 month state Residency Requirement

Hi,

My wife anf I have just completed 4 years after my GC, and we have stayed in the same state NJ since the last 4 years. We will be eligible to file my citizenship application in March 2007.

Both my wife and I plans on being in India from late November 2006 to about Feb 2007. Can we apply for citizenship in March 2007 after coming back? Or does we have to wait for a period of 3 months after coming back to the US, and being a resident of NJ before we can apply?

Please advise.

You can apply as soon as you return. 3 month waiting period is for those who have moved from a different state and to discourage those who want to take advantage of lesser waiting period in some states. You have already long established your residency in NJ.
