Hi,
I have read an article regarding CONTINOUS RESIDENCE for applying for US citizenship (http://www.immihelp.com/citizenship/naturalization-eligibility.html). Below are my details. Kindly let me know when I am eligible to apply for citizenship.
I have got my green card on jan/21/2001. For personal reasons I had to go to India for 17 months. I left to India on sep/25/2001 and returned on Apr/20/2003. Before I left to India I applied for reentry permit, which I got for 2 years period. I entered US before the reentry permit expired. I was in the impression that I would be eligible for applying to US citizenship after April/20/2008. But according to the information available at the site ( http://www.immihelp.com/citizenship/naturalization-eligibility.html ) I can apply for citizenship even before that (april/21/2007). Could u please let me know when Iam eligible to apply for citizenship?
Date of Permanent Residence -> Jan/21/2001.
Date on which I left USA -> sep/25/2001.
Date of return to USA -> Apr/20/2003.
Applied for Reentry permit before I left to INDIA.
Reentry permit issue date Mar/29/2002.
Reentry permit expiry date Mar/29/2004.
