Hi all:

We have submitted the N-400 application and received the acknowledgement receipt (Texas Service Center). Due to unforseen circumstances my wife has to travel to India sometime during the middle of September and will stay in India for a duration of 2 months.

My questions are:

1. If she receives the interview date during the time she will be out of the country, can she re-schedule the interview date?

2. If in case if she completes the inteview prior to leaving to India, what are the implications?. She has to get her passport and visa to go to India. How long do these take to obtain?

Thanks in advance for all the replies

1. You can do that but not recommended. It will delay the interview another 6 months to 1 year. Best thing is to come back sooner and attend the interview.

2. If you are ready to pay extra money, you can get all that very fast. Express service for US passport takes around 10 days. And Indian visa is given the same day if you go in person. Or if you pay for FedEx for both ways, 3-4 days.
