I-130/i-797

Could anyone tell me exactly what this damn form is, I-797 , I have recently become a permanant resident, ie - green card holder, i am married to an American, a few months ago my husband petitioned an I-130 , for my 14 yr old son, who does not live with us in the USA, we got notification back requesting additional evidence, in other words an unabridged borth certificate with both parents names on it, we got what they requested and mailed it back, and just today recieved this I-797 in the mail, and all that i see is "APPROVAL NOTICE" and the rest i dont understand, Please could someone explain what this is.

Form I-797 is not really a form.

It is a receipt when you file something with USCIS and it is an approval notice when whatever you filed with USCIS is approved.

I-797 is used for wide variety of purposes.
