Green Card while working in a Foreign Country

Hi,

I am currently on a H1B visa. My company wants to send me to work for a foreign client in another country. The project is for 3 years. Can my company file for my green card while I am on this project. Also they would be paying my salary in the client country. What happens to my payroll in the US. Should my company run my payroll and pay taxes. Do I need to visit US while my green card is in process.

As long as your company is willing to hire back in the US once you get your green card, it is OK.

Before getting green card, your payroll in US or in foreign country don't matter.
