I know that there is a lot of discussion on speeding tickets on this forum and I have read it - but I do have a different question.

I got my driving record from my DMV in NJ and my record is completely clean - there is not a single violation listed there. Infact it says clearly that there are no violations.
I had received a speeding ticket 3 years back when I was visiting a different state on a business trip. I had hired a lawyer, who represented me in the court, paid fines ($75), etc... The end result was no points in my driving record.

So now when I apply for citizenship - should I list this speeding violation? I donot have any records and I donot know which court it was - so I cannot obtain docs from them. I donot want to lie - however I donot want to be in a situation where I list the offense in the N400 form and then during the interview the officer asks me for proof of payment, etc.. I donot have any proofs and can't get because it is in a different state in a court that I donot remember.

I know that the recommendation is to mention it - however, my question is that - If my Driving Report has NO record of this incident how will USCIS have any record of it? How can they get my driving violation from somewhere else?

Immihelp - Can you please post your opinion?
Thanks so much in advance!

No need to mention if its not on your record.

Actually speeding tickets are not really big deal at all I think. If I were you, I'd mention it. The interviewing officer may ask about it and you can clear up if need be.
