packet 4 and interview date rescheduling

Hello!

Just like others in this group, my case # is not on the web site, but on calling the mumbai consulate, I was told that our interview has been scheduled in october.

my question is whether it would be a problem to ask for a rescheduling of my interview date (to december). I have just started teaching classes for a new semester and would not be able to leave for 5 or 6 days (or how so ever longer it takes).

Do you think this might adversely affect the future processing of our case.

I have seen at least one other posting (in the Chat Group (OLD) section of a similar web site) where the individual was able to pre-pone the interview date. However, last month they refused to pre-pone an interview for someone I know. Looks like its on a case-by-case basis.

I'd suggest you email the consulate, explaining your situation and see what they say.

Thanks for your input. I can see it being a problem for them if the request is for pre-poning, but I am requesting for a postponement.

Is there anybody else facing the same issue of not being able to get out of their work commitments at the time of interview?

Read your posting I am in a similar, I was not able to make it to the interveiw and had asked for a date in Jan 2001. After two emails I finally got a one line reply saying that that they had updated my records requesting an interveiw date in Jan 2001. No promises and no date guess I will have to wait till middle of december before I know. Let me know what happens to your case and all the best.
