Help On Student Visa

I have a friend of mine who lives in another country and wants to get a student visa but I'm not really sure whats the difference between F1, F2, J1, J2, M1 & M2 Student Visa? Can someone explain each of them so I know what kind of visa should I tell my friend. I would really appreciate your time & help on this matter.
