VISA validity and PIO card

My sons's tourist visa to india is valid for another 5 months and since he is traveling to india in the next 4 weeks i am planning to jsut apply for PIO card and visit india on the visitor visa, is visitor visa still valid after his PIO card is approved or would it create any issues while he is returning back to U.S?

Your help would be appreciated.

It should not create any problem. Visitors visa sticker will still be there in the passport.
