got us citizenship by mistake for son. desperate

i went to usa consulate in mumbai to get visa for my 5 year old son. they gave a usa passport instead because he was born in usa. now i applied for oci for him at chicago, waiting for approval. but i dont like idea of my son being usa citizen, i prefer to keep india passport for him. can i keep india passport for him and send usa passport to the usa consulate for cancellation? my son is in india now since he entered usa when he was one year old on indian passport. can he maintain his precious indian passport and citizenship? if not, how can he get it back and get rid of usa citizenship?

Not sure if this is true because India would require the child to renounce US citizenship and US will not allow renouncing until the child is 18+. So, he might have to wait till the child turns 18 and then apply for Indian Passport and renounce US one. Isn't it?

Also, if you renounce US citizenship and later for some reason apply for US visa (any type of visa for any reason), I am not sure if US will approve the visa or not.

The visa would be evaluated on its merits just like for any other non-US citizen.

The problem is the US won't let a 5-year-old renounce US citizenship. It's not clear whether India would restore your son's Indian citizenship if the son applies to renounce US citizenship, but the US refuses.
