schengan visa pls help

hi,
I'm an Indian citizen with US H1 visa living in US.
I'm travelling bac to India and planning a 10 day break in europe.
My friend living in Swiss is sending invitation letter.My port of entry is switzerland and he can drive us to show Paris.
I need to apply for schengan visa...
My questions.
How to show travel itenary(my tickets r booked from swiss)
Is it must to show hotel bookings
should I apply for short stay visa..
Also pls give the link to these details.

hello,
you'll have to keep the copy of itinerary with confirmed reservation, airline ticket to be presented prior to issuance of visa, proof of sufficient means of support e.g. bank statements, proof of income or an invitation letter and sponsorship declaration from your relatives / friends in a Schengen country, letter from your company giving details about your business trip, proof of health insurance cover for your stay in the Schengen area to be presented prior to issuance of visa.
