can I stay after applying greencard

hi,

can anyone tell me that.

if i will apply for my greencard then after what stage I will eligible to stay in USA.
if i have completed my 6 yrs stay in US & will apply for green card just few month before then can I continue my stay in US or Is there is any stage that I have to clear , only after that i can stay in USA.

By 6 years, you mean to say 6 years on H1B work visa. You can extend this H1B visa every year for a considerable time.

After filing your GC, you can stay in the country only in the final stage when you've filed for your 485.

Always consult a couple of lawyers and check for critical issues. It's worth paying them a couple of hundred bucks for their consultation.
