Part time job clarification?

Hi,
I'm working for my employer who filed my green card and just got my EAD. Is it OK to take up another job based on EAD and continue working for both employers. All I mean to say is I'll be having two W-2s even though the 2nd job I'm getting is a contract job but its "Contract-W2" Does anyone know if that would be safe.
And please if someone knows about "Contract-Independent" portability for people like us on I-485 then let me know.
