Here's the situation. My family-based green card is being processed right now. I have already received my work authorization, which I thought meant I could work any place where "green card is required". Is this not true?

This recruiter I was talking to today just wouldn't accept that and kept saying that the client has put in writing that they will only accept US citizens or green card holders.

Am I wrong? If not, can somebody point me to a website that clearly states my assumption so I can use that to fight my case with the recruiter?
Any other advice??

Thanks!!

Usually, an employer can not discriminate. If you have work authorization, you can not be denied employment solely because your work authorization is not a Greencard.
See uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/faqeev.htm (http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/faqeev.htm)
and www.usdoj.gov/crt/osc/ (http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/osc/)
Note that there are some jobs that require a security clearance, but such jobs are usually open to US citizens only.

That was fast! Thanks a ton!!! I'm going to send the recruiter these links and ask him to reconsider.
