I am an Indian citizen residing in US since past 2 years. I am going to India for my H1 stamping and need to go to Germany right after that on a business trip.

My question is can I apply for Schengen visa from India being an Indian citizen but US resident?

Yes, you can apply for your Schengen visa from any of the associated consulates in India.

However, it will be much easier for you to apply for and get the visa in United States.

For example, French consulate gives the visa within minutes and the lines are very small.

It's just that the system in India is mostly crap with hardly any help or information anywhere. Still, you can surely apply there.
