Finger Printing before scheduled appointment

Hello Friends,
I received the finger printing notice. I am scheduled after 2 weeks. But I have to leave for abroad before this date.

I heard that a person can walk-in only on Wednesday. Also I heard from INS representative (on 800-375-5283) that walk-ins are only applicable if you had already missed the appointment.

My ? s are:
1. Can I walk-in on any day before the scheduled appointment date?
2. What are the chances of getting the finger printing done with reason of abroad travel (proof international flight ticket)

Went to the Field office on Friday morning around 9 am (13 days ahead of my scheduled appointment). Showed them my travel ticket and requested for finger printing. Lady was very co-operative. She went to the lady who was giving the token numbers for finger printing. She accepted the request and allowed me to complete finger print same day. I completed the finger print and was out by 10:30 am.
