marrying a us citizen,pls help

i am marrying a us citizen, does it make me a permanent resident right after i marry him? as i have read, i should be a permanent resident for 3 years to become a citizen, if i am a tourist right now marrying a us citizen, how can i obtain permanent residence?

You do not gain any benefit automatically... you do not become a resident the day you marry him.

But you are eligible to apply for such benefits... in this case, permanent residency. You will have to file for Adjustment of Status.
