Citizenship Filing question - plz help

Hello,
I am applying for a re-entry permit as I will be making multiple trips to India in the next 2 years.

I will not be out of the country for more than 6 months and will maintain all the other residency requirements for citizenship.

My quetion is that if I have a re-entry permit, can I still apply for citizenship?

why are you applying for a re-entry permit then? i mean, if you will not stay outside longer than 6 months, there is no need for one.

The reason I want to apply for re-entry permit is that I don't want any unnecessary hassles while entering the US after trips of 5-6 months..

So if I have a re-entry permit, can I apply for citizenship (assuming that I meet all other residency requirements)?

Yes. If you have met the physical presence requirement along with all the others, there is no problem. But again, you really do not need a re-entry permit.

Maybe I was not very clear in my earlier posts... My situation is that I will be in India for a couple of years for a personal reason and during this time will take up some employment to sustain myself. Even though I will be making frequent trips to the US (every 5-6 months), I don't want any unnecessary probelms while entering the US. I believe that having a re-entry permit will help me. And that's why I was thinking of applying for one.

So in this situation also, will I be able to apply for US citizenship - as long as I have met all the necessary requirements?
