I am scheduled for my interview next week and I have some concerns about getting my US citizenship because I bought some farm / agricultural land property. The following are the questions I have..

As per the current OCI status..it says you cannot invest in Farm / agriculture or plantation properties

Since I bought these properties when I was a Indian Citizen (NRI), will I still be able to hold the property in my name and sell at a later time.

I am sure a lot of you might have been in this situation. Please advice.

Thanks in advance

US citizenship interview is not affected by your property ownership.

As far as I know, you cannot buy property once you lose your Indian citizenship but you can still maintain the property you owned earlier and are entitled to inherit the same property as well. Based on what my Dad's CA in India told me.

After getting US citizenship, you can still buy property in India, except agricultural/plantation land.

Thanks for the information.

Does anybody have links to any official document / publications from GOI in this regard?

Same question I rised earlier. I'm in similar situation, awaiting interview, but holding farm lands in India. Guess, we can keep the lands that we purchased before giving up our Indian citizenship.
