Hi Everyone,
I am lost. I came to USA on a J-1 visa and quit the program 5 weeks later. After i quit i reg.ed to a college here in NY and graduated. Then i became F-2 due to marriage. 2006 I got my H-1 and No one bothered me or asked me J-1 requirement. I am hoping that my attorney let USCIS aware of this. I will check this on Monday.This year i just applied for green card but my attorney now says it might be a problem or not. Might be because i have 2 years obligation. Might not since i got H-1.
Now worst part is I am from Northern Cyprus (NC) politically not recognized. My IAP 66 paper says my country and legal residency is Turkey. But i lived in Northern Cyprus and My J-1 Visa says my country is Cyprus. I applied for Green Card as a citizen of Turkey. Because My F-1 visa was on Turkish passport. Because they don't give visa more than a year for Northern Cyprus residents and i got Turkish passport.
Well i have no obligation to Turkey because i never studied in Turkey or lived there. Republic of Cyprus Doesn't recognize Northern Cyprus and declare it illegal and Republic of Cyprus has no Records of me. And No country recognizes NC other then Turkey politically. So where should i apply for No Objection Letter. Based on IAP -66 or J-1 visa. or Just because i got H-1 means that i don't require 2 years obligation?
