now how long will i have to wait

hello dear members

i applied for PR in feb 2007 and now when send pose lodgment inquiry i recieved the following reply

Dear Sir



Thank you for your e-mail about your visa application under Australia’s

General Skilled Migration programme.



Notes from the file indicate that it is under active consideration and

monitored on a regular basis. The Department is awaiting further

information from internal and external agencies. Once this information

has been received, the case officer will contact you further if additional

information is required in support of the application.

now please tell me what the active consideration means and at what stage the department reply in this way , and how long it will take now.
