Hello everybody,
I would like to obtain a prepaid credit card issued by an U.S. bank.
If I am not mistaken to this purpose I need to have at least an ITIN number and an address in U.S.
I read IRS web site about who is eligible to obtain an ITIN number but I am not sure if I can ask for an ITIN number only to this matter. In effect I do not have any income or earning in U.S. and I do not live in U.S.
Do you know if it is possible to obtain an ITIN number to this purpose?
If I obtained an ITIN number I would have to fill a tax return every year?
Is there any other way to obtain a credit card issued by a U.S. bank?

Thank You

Regards

Mauro

You need a SSN to get a credit card by yourself from most US lenders. ITIN is needed for bank accounts and/or debit cards.

Without these, you can get an addon card with someone else as the primary.

Sorry, I was a little bit inaccurate.
"Prepaid" credit cards are considered by banks as "debit" cards.
So what I would to obtain is a "debit card".

Thanks

You need an account for that and ITIN is required by most banks these days to open an account.

You can choose to buy prepaid debit cards at stores that sell. They charge a fee of $5 or so I guess. You give them cash and they load it on a visa/MC debit card that is prepaid.
