India Travel during H1B Extension process

Friends,

This is my First posting ever and really appreciate
correct and knowledgeble inputs to my Query.

My Case is like this, simple to understand:

Background:

1.My H1B and I-94 is currently valid upto end of Sept, 30thSept'08.
2.My Company has already applied for H1B Visa Extension on 30thMay08, (first time extension)
and it is in process.( I will receive the filing receipt shortly)

Problem:

3.I need to Travel to India
on 8thAug'08 and returning 1stSept'08 ie with in
my current visa validity.

Question/Query:

4.Will my Extension file, filed by my company get VOID
if i go out of country and
return with in the current Visa period?
5.Do i or my company need to
take any action after return back to US, like submitting the latest I-94 to consulate or anyone?
6.What will the case if i get Approval notice when i am
in India during those 3 weeks stay and what will be the case if Approval notice comes after i return back to US.
