Transit Visa - London

Hello,

I am travelling to India with my son (under 2 years) from LA to Mumbai via London. I have a 10 hour layover in london and would like to check in at the day hotel for a few hours. Do I need a transit visa for that? If I check in at the hotel on london airport located at end of terminal 4) do I still need a transit visa since my flight arrives at terminal 5 (I have to take a hotel shuttle to get from one terminal 5 to terminal 4). Kindly let me know at your earliest convenience. I would really appreciate it.

What is the legal status of yourself and your son in USA?

I am indian citizen with US green card. My son is US citizen

As long as you are not going out of the airport (past the immigration), you don't need any transit visa.
