Visa appointment and departure time gap

Hello,
I have got an appointment for my sister at the Chennai consulate on Mar 4th, and she would be flying here only by the end of April. Is it a good idea for her to mention her departure date during the interview? And also is it too soon for the appointment?

She can travel to US anytime within the validity of visa stamp. No restriction.

There is a question in DS-156 form 'When do you intend to arrive in US?' She can answer that question in the form.
