Hello Immihelp:

I was going through VFS website. According to them the guide lines are:

Inside the US Consulate
1. You will first clear security check.
2. You will then be issued a yellow colored envelope.
3. You will then submit your passport and the envelope at the Intake Window, where you will be issued a token.
4. After receiving the token, please be seated to await call to an interview booth by announcement of name and token number.

1.My question is what do we have to submit in the YELLOW ENVELOPE?

2.I asked my parents to put in all the documents I sent and their passports. And they can keep their documents with them and show it to visa officer only if asked. Is that ok?

Or

3.They only have to submit their passport in the Yellow envelope?

yellow envelope will be given by the consulate people which we have to submit with our passport at a counter where we will be issued a token. This token no. will be called out when wehave to go to the respective counter for interview.
The yellow envelope is the one prepared and kept ready by the consulate people.....in it willbe the draft we had submitted earlier [for Rs.2300/- being issuance fees]. We dont have to put anything into it. This envelope will be returned to us alongwith the passport if we are refused the visa. If they retain the envelope, it would come to us with our visa stamped in the passport. [the yellow envelope is nothing but the envelope prepared and kept ready for despatch if the visa is granted; if not the envelope with the draft will be returned alongwith ourpassport]......which we wouldnt like to have.
