My mother's visa got rejected at Mumbai consulate on 20th Jan. Im her only daughter and she is widow. She runs coaching classes. She had carried along with her property documents, income tax papers, share holding statements, Fixed deposit statements. But none of the documents were even seen by the officer. She was just asked, "Whom do u stay with in India?" and when she said,"i stay alone", the officer said," im sorry i cannot grant u a visa".
Now we are planning to re apply. Do u guys think re-applying under the same conditions would help? We have written a detailed letter to consulaet? Shud we also get her mother's or mother-in-law's name transferred to her ration card? Will the consular officer question the change? Do they keep a record of old answers? Any other suggestions? We need to re-apply soon as she can only visit during summer vacations.

They do keep record of old answers.

Unless your circumstances drastically change, (or you get very lucky), it would be difficult to get visa again.

Do u think adding my grandmother's name in her ration card or personal affidavit would help? Will it complicate matters? All other documents are good enough, family ties are the only problem. We can't think of any other solution. Plz help!

It is quite subjective what will happen when you do that. Only after you do that, you will come to know.

Once you go through it, please post your experience here for other people's benefit.
