extension of visitor visa

Hi,
My mother-in-law came here on march,06,2004. She was given 6 months of visa at the port of entry. I extended the visitor visa. She received the receipt, but she never received the visa. Can she stay here after the expiration (Sept 03,2004) of her I-94? she has 10 years of visa in her passport.

It takes time for USCIS to process extension.

She can stay beyond Sept 3, 2004 as long you don't hear from USCIS.

But 10 year visa does not mean she can stay 10 years in US. Only until the date I-94 or if the application is pending, until you hear from them.
