Hi,

My mother has a 10 year Visitor VISA. But, when she entered USA, she was given permission to stay for 6 months on her I-94 form.

How do I go about extending her stay beyond the 6 months indicated on the I-94?

Since she already has a 10 year VISA, does she need to apply for extension of VISA?

Is extending the stay ( I-94) the same as extending the VISA?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Neelu

Read www.immihelp.com/visas/extend.html (http://www.immihelp.com/visitor-visa-extension/)

10 year visa does not mean you can stay for 10 years!!

I understand that 10 year VISA does not mean that she can stay for 10 years. My question is - the procedure to extend her stay is still the same as the procedure for the extension of VISA - which is the link you sent?

Thanks,
Murli

If you want to extend stay beyond 6 months, use that link I wrote earlier.

Visa is used only to enter into US. Stay is determined by I-94 date. You are extending only I-94 date once you are in US.
