Dear All,

My 5 years of completion after getting a GC is about to end in another 3 months.

But I went to India for couple of long trips with in this five years time.
One for 3 months couple of years back and other almost 6 months(not exceeding 180 days) last year. Adding all my days outside US for the past 5 years comes to around 320 days. Will I be eligible for US citizenship ?

Please advise.

Regards,

I am permanent resident since 08/03/2004 and had gone to india twice in last five years a total of 55 days.

When will I be eligible to file citizenship?

Can I file 90 days before 08/03/2004 or have to wait 55 more days in addition to 90 days to be eligible .

Thanks,
-dolly

Dear all

pls note as per the us immigration rule a person holding a gc for over 4 years and 9 months and not resided outside us more than 6 months in one absence is eliigible for n400

this is not the case for a person who got a gc sponsored by a citizen and for them its only 3 years

in your case you can apply for citizenship when u finishes 4 years and 9 months in usa. No matter you went on leave for 55 days

hope this helps
